A Mediterranean island was discovered by the International Space Station, Neptune and its rings astounded astronomers, and an asteroid was discovered.

Samantha Cristoforetti, an astronaut of the European Space Agency (ESA), released this shot on Wednesday (Sept. 21)

It depicts what crewmembers on the International Space Station saw as a Russian Soyuz spacecraft launched into space to transport three additional astronauts to the orbiting laboratory.

Russian cosmonauts Sergey Prokopyev and Dmitri Petelin joined NASA's Frank Rubio in orbit from Kazakhstan's Baikonur Cosmodrome.

"We had a fantastic view of the #Soyuz launch!" Sergey, Dmitry, and Frank will be knocking on our door in a few hours.
