Samantha Cristoforetti, commander of Expedition 68, and her SpaceX Crew-4 crewmates are returning home today.
A busy two weeks for Europe's first female commander of the International Space Station, who is set to return to Earth.
Samantha Cristoforetti, commander of Expedition 68, thanked her crew of "space ninjas."
Change of command ceremony aired on NASA Television on Wednesday (Oct. 12) ahead of undocking tonight and splashdown tomorrow (Oct. 13).
I just wanted to remark what a privilege it has been to serve as a commander for such a short time.
Cristoforetti, a European Orbit Agency astronaut nearing the end of her second long-duration mission, told the ten other people in space with her.
Three of those ten are Cristoforetti's coworkers on SpaceX's Crew-4 mission, which landed at the station in April and is scheduled to depart this evening.
