Australia to grow plant on moon by 2025

Australian scientists are attempting to cultivate plants on the moon by 2025 as part of a new mission announced Friday

After landing, they would be watered inside the sealed room and monitored for signs of germination and growth.

Plants will be chosen based on their ability to withstand harsh circumstances.

One possible candidate is an Australian "resurrection grass," which can persist in a latent state without water.

"The initiative is a first step toward producing plants for food, medicine, and oxygen production," said the project's creator.
