Production on the third season of Netflix’s The Witcher has officially begun. Ahead of Season 2’s release in late 2021, Netflix had previously confirmed that it would be creating a third season in the future.
While reports circulated earlier this year associated with The Witcher season 3 filming dates, Netflix has now confirmed that work has begun on the series’ next episode slate.
Disclosed on social media this morning, Netflix announced that The Witcher season 3 is in the process of filming. “Season 3 of [The Witcher] is already in production. We have been looking forward to this family reunion!”
Netflix said in the caption of the tweet it shared on Twitter. In addition to this message, he also posted an image from the set of the show that showed Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, and Anya Chalotra sitting down and chatting with each other.
To accompany this confirmation, Netflix has also released a new description of what The Witcher Season 3 will have in store. That description says the following:
As monarchs, wizards and beasts of the continent race to capture her, Geralt drives Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Charged with Ciri’s magical training, Yenneder leads them to Aretuza’s protected fortress, where he hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover that they have landed on a battlefield of political corruption, black magic, and treachery. They must fight back, risk it all, or risk being lost forever.”
